During my first term as Sheriff, we accomplished many of my goals related to safety and service, with a focus on being a good steward of resources within Callaway County.
SAFETY AND SERVICE
Secured federal grant funding for $521,866.00 to retain a domestic violence investigator program (to include the cities of Fulton and Holts Summit), enhance officer safety through equipment upgrades, and provide for increased traffic enforcement in problem areas.
Implemented School Resource Officer program for county school districts (currently North Callaway, South Callaway, and New Bloomfield --- Fulton schools are primarily served by the Fulton Police Department).
Implemented K9 program consisting of two full-service K9 units that also frequently provide assistance to other law enforcement agencies in the county including the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Fulton Police Department, and Holts Summit Police Department.
Expanded the administrative office hours to enhance customer service, including CCW permit issuance.
Equipped road deputies with up-to-date safety technology, including body-worn cameras and Taser weapon devices.
Enhanced jail operations with security upgrades, reorganization of staffing, and the implementation of up-to-date technology including video visitation, online commissary ordering, and an online law library (upgrades to increase efficiency and ultimately save taxpayer money spent on inmate services).
Enhanced patrol operations with the reorganization of staffing, an updated patrol schedule, revised policies, and the integration of reserve deputies to provide maximum possible deputy coverage during peak call periods.
Transferred radio communications to the statewide digital system (MOSWIN) allowing for adequate communication to include multi-agency responses to catastrophic incidents, natural disasters, etc.
Increased deputy and corrections officer salaries 20-27% to recruit and retain well educated, trained, and qualified staff.
Installed a drug take-back collection point within the office lobby for citizen access 24-7-365.
Protected area Callaway County farmers from frivolous complaints from liberal organizations.
Awarded 2019 G.W. Law – Law Officer of the Year award by the Fulton Rotary Club for “service above self.”
Served on several state level boards and task forces focusing on child abuse, neglect, and fatalities.
Served on Callaway County CrimeStoppers Board of Directors.
Served as Missouri Sheriff’s Association –Board Member
Kingdom Supper Distinguished Service Award (2020).
